文型：　VERB《て形》　います　自動詞（じどうし／INTRANSITIVE VERB）

Notes:

• As discussed in Lesson 31, VERBています can express a state which results as a consequence of the action expressed by the verb.
• The verbs used in Lesson 28 and Lesson 31 are 他動詞（たどうし／TRANSITIVE VERB).
• The particle used in VERBています《自動詞》 is が.

例：

鏡が割れています。　「The mirror is broken.」

枝が折れています。　「The branch is snapped.」

香港へ行った時、道が込んでいました。　「When I went to Hong Kong, the road was packed」

木村さんの息子は友達と遊んで、服が汚れていました。　「Mr. Kimura's son played with his friends, so his clothes got dirty.」

ランプ（lamp）が点いています。　「The lamp is on.」
