Lesson 57 | くれます = GIVE ME

文型：　PERSON　は　私／家族　に　OBJECT　を　くれました　「Person gave me/my family...」

Notes:

• This sentence pattern is used when a third party gives something to the speaker or the speaker's family.
• When someone within the family (including the speaker) gives something to another member of the family (excluding the speaker), あげます is used. For example:
• 私は父に時計をあげました。　「I gave my father a watch.」
• 兄は嫂（あによめ／elder brother's wife, sister-in-law）にネックレス（necklace）をあげました。　「My brother gave my sister-in-law a necklace.」
• 母は私に携帯電話をくれました。　「Mother gave me a cellular phone.」

例：
山田さんは父にワインをくれました。　「Mr. Yamada gave my father (a bottle of) wine.」
友達は私にお土産（おみやげ）をくれました。　「My friend gave me a souvenir.」
先生は私に本をくれました。　「Teacher gave me a book.」
佐藤さんは母に花をくれました。　「Ms. Satou gave my mother flowers.」
レズリーさんは姪（めい／niece）に玩具（おもちゃ／toy）をくれました。　「Leslie gave my niece toys.」
